Needles came to be because of my desire to make choir music following the older rules of composition. The middle part emulates and follows the rules of two voice counterpoint, as for example explained in Johann Joseph Fux's book "The Study of Counterpoint - Gradus ad Parnassum" and the last part is written in a Bach choral style.

Making a composition following strict rules can definitely be more exhausting since composing becomes a bit more mathematical with them, but the rules are there for a reason and I feel like writing a counterpoint piece or choral without following them results in a less good sounding piece. The rules to become more of a part of you the more you make pieces following them though, making it less mechanical after a while.
